What is inside

The museum opened with 13 exhibits. News reports list an interactive timeline of Redlands history, a photo wall called "I am Redlands" where residents can add family photos, a gallery on the citrus industry, and exhibits on Chinatown, the Fire Department, film, and the watercolor art of Phil Dike. There is also a flight simulator where you can fly over Redlands and try to land at the city airport.

How it came to be

Per Community Forward Redlands, the effort began in 2000. The museum group bought the building in 2014, raised $28 million from donors, broke ground in 2021, and gave the property to the City in 2025.

What people are saying

Columnist David Allen posted on X after an early tour that video screens, touchscreens, wall-sized photos and citrus crate labels "add style and depth" to the museum.
