EDDM in Redlands: Every Door Direct Mail explained

How USPS Every Door Direct Mail works, what it costs to mail on your own in Redlands, and how a shared EDDM postcard works.

What is Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM)?

Every Door Direct Mail is a USPS service for local advertising. You pick carrier routes on a map, and your letter carrier delivers your piece to every address on those routes. Pieces are addressed to "Local Postal Customer", so there is no mailing list to buy.

EDDM Retail rules, per USPS

  • At least 200 pieces and up to 5,000 pieces per ZIP Code per day (USPS Quick Service Guide 140).
  • No mailing permit needed. You drop the mail at the Post Office that serves the routes.
  • Pieces must be flats: at least one side over 10.5 inches long or 6.125 inches high (or over 0.25 inch thick), up to 15 by 12 inches, and no more than 3.3 ounces.
  • Pieces go in bundles of 50 to 100 with a facing slip, and each piece carries the EDDM Retail indicia.
